WE'RE BACK with Lucky #23 for 2018

Well given the fact that our race attempt was cut short last year due to metal in the engine, we are happy to report that we are BACK in 2018 and are thrilled to be here. This year we have been badged with the number 23 which should get us out of the gate about 30 minutes ahead of our scheduled start time last year.

The Purple Hearts plane has been fitted with a fresh motor and ADSB transponder and has burned off nearly 50 hours of mineral oil to break in the powerplant for the race. Since the pistons were bored during the refurbishing process, the plane  now over-performs straight and level flying characteristics and therefore exceeds red-line specs. That means the Purple Hearts will be flying as a exhibition team only this year. Fear not however, the ladies intend to adhere to the rules yet race as if they are competitive and going for the gold.

Denise returns as Pilot in Command for the first and every other leg. Teresa will assume the role as co-pilot this year but both ladies are co-trained for all the jobs required in cockpit as well as stress management for the rigors of the race.

We will pick up the new blog entries leaving in last year's abbreviated race attempt records to add context to how much work it was to bring the plane back to race in 2018. Thanks for all of the support and encouragement from our fellow racers, fans, and family. The team is excited to be back and promise to make you proud.
